Milwaukee's "Laborfest"Senator Kohl Recalls Better Days for Unions
MILWAUKEE-Union members proudly marched through downtown Monday to celebrate the annual Labor Day Parade.
The march ended at the Summerfest Grounds for the "Laborfest," a free and family oriented event that has been going on since 1965. Retiring Senator Herb Kohl was in attendance and told CBS 58, "The unions have taken a hit over the last generation or so. Many years ago, there were many more people who belonged to unions. It's the ebb and flow of how society works. Frank Smith, a union member, said he felt encouraged by the turnout, "It's all about brotherhood and jobs." |
