Milwaukee County outdoor pools to open this Saturday

MILWAUKEE -- Saturday, June 15th marks the opening of the deep-well pools for the summer and a sign up opportunity for swimming lessons. Milwaukee County's nine outdoor pools will be open starting this Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

These pools are: Grobschmidt, Hales Corners, Holler, Jackson, McCarty, Pelican Cove in Kosciuszko Park, Sheridan, Washington, and Wilson. The family water parks, Cool Waters in Greenfield Park, David F. Schulz Aquatic Center in Lincoln Park, and Tosa Pool in Hoyt Park opened earlier this season. Splash pads and wading pools will open on a staggered schedule.

Swimming lessons will be offered at pools throughout the park system. For eight lessons the fee is $38. Admissions are limited to 100 students per pool. Sign up this weekend at: Grobschmidt, Hales Corners, Holler, Jackson, McCarty, Kosciuszko, Sheridan, or Wilson Park.

Saturday Lessons: Sign up June 15th at 10:00 a.m.

June 22 - August 10, 11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Outdoor: Holler, Hales Corners, Jackson, Kosciuszko, McCarty, Grobschmidt, Sheridan, Wilson & Indoor: Noyes.

Tuesdays/Thursdays Lessons: Sign up June 15th at 10:00 a.m.

June 18 - July 18 (no lessons week of July 1), 11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Outdoor: David F. Schulz Aquatic Center & Indoor: Noyes and Pulaski

Tuesdays/Thursdays Lessons (II): Sign up July 18th starting at 11:00 a.m.

July 23 - August 15, 11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Outdoor: David F. Schulz, Aquatic Center & Indoor: Noyes

 

In addition, free swim lessons will be taught at Washington Park Pool through the 2013 Aquatic Incentive Program. The free lessons will be two, eight-week sessions in the summer. Sign up for these lessons at the pool, located at 1859 N. 40th St., on June 15th beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Tuesdays: June 18th - August 6th, 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. with 35 slots available

Wednesdays: June 26th - August 14th, 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. with 25 slots available
