ROCK CO. --- A Milwaukee man was arrested by Rock County Sheriff's Deputies after he led them on a high speed chase that ended in a crash and foot pursuit.

It all began around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Rock Township when a Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle because of a discrepancy with its plates.

The vehicle pulled over briefly then took off at speeds up to 70 mph. After about a mile the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and slammed into a tree. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and took off running on foot.

Police recoverd a cell phone from the vehicle that led them to a house that they believed may be connected to the suspect. A neighbor told police the house was vacant but deputies discovered a door on the backside of the home that was wide open.

Police entered the house and found the suspect hiding in a shower with a space heater running. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Rodney T. Moore of Milwaukee.

Moore was taken into custody and transported to the hospital. He was later released to the Rock County Jail where he is facing numerous charges involving operating a stolen car while under the influence, fleeing, and hit and run amongst other things.

Moore will remain in custody in Rock County until his initial court appearance on Monday.
