Milwaukee Police Sgt. Fighting Crime & Cancer

Instead of taking money for himself, he formed a foundation

MONDAY-With his chief by his side Milwaukee Police Sgt. Sebastian Raclaw handed over a $10,000 check to the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The 16 year veteran of the department has stage four stomach cancer.

It's a rare form of the disease. But, instead of taking money for himself he formed a foundation to fund research.

The check is made up of many smaller individual donations collected by his colleagues on the force and family and friends.

"You have to understand to raise ten thousand dollars is not an easy task," Sgt. Raclaw told CBS 58 News, "especially when you don't have corporate sponsors. This is the first of its kind."

Milwaukee Police raised the cash through community events like a recent Run-Walk.
