Milwaukee Firefighters remember the fallen
127 firefighters killed in the line of duty
MILWAUKEE-Milwaukee hasn't lost a firefighter in the line of duty since 1996, but that didn't make a special ceremony Wednesday any easier.
Firefighters stood at attention, with police and deputies to remember the 127 Milwaukee Firefighters killed in the line of duty.
21 of them didn't get their names on the stone monument outside the headquarters until recently, thanks to the efforts of active and retired firefighters.
" I ask that you keep these brave men and women and their families in your hearts," Capt. Joshua Parish told the crowd that had gathered, "Each name in the stone behind me represents a mother or father who never came home, a son or daughter who will never sit at the thanksgiving table, and a grandparent who will never hold their grandchild.
