Milwaukee Co. Sheriff's Office preparing for busy holiday weekend
BROWN DEER -- This weekend will be a challenging one to keep the roadways safe... Not only do we have Harley's 110th, but it's also Labor Day weekend.
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke addressed those issues along I-43 in Brown Deer Thursday morning.
The sheriff ordered everyone to wear their seat belt, put the phone down and absolutely do not drive drunk.
The sheriff spent plenty of time talking about using caution with more than 100,000 Harley riders expected over the weekend too.
"Most drivers are looking for cars," Clarke said. "It's the way our mind is trained. We're looking for vehicles. We're not looking for smaller objects, we don't expect trees to be in the middle of the roadway. We're looking for cars. That's why motorcyclists are often times missed.
Take that extra split second and say to yourself, 'Any motorcyclists around?'"
