Milwaukee--  A fallen Marine from Milwaukee was honored today at his high school alma mater.

Former classmates and teachers, fellow Marines and family members gathered on the front lawn of Milwaukee Hamilton High School to salute Marine Lance Cpl. Jeremiah Collins.  The 19-year-old was killed last weekend whlie serving in Afghanistan.  The Defense Department listed his death as non-hostile but has not given specifics about how he died.

"He was always happy.  He always helped others," said Alfreddo Cabrera-Gonzalez, a former classmate who joined the Marines with Collins.  Cabrera-Gonzalez presented Collins' military dog tages to Collins' mother during the solemn ceremony that included a flag-lowering ceremony, the playing of taps, and speeches.

Hamilton High School student Ann Marie Luque said Collins inspired her and other students.   "He was a good person.  He's one of the reasons why I wanted to be a Marine."

Funeral services will be held once Collins' body is returned to Milwaukee.
