UPDATE: 30-year-old Wauwatosa police officer found shot to death
VILLAGE OF WAUWATOSA -- The Wauwatosa Police Department confirms Officer Jennifer Lynn Sebena, 30, was shot to death early Monday morning. A fellow officer found her body near the intersection of Underwood and Harmonee near Wauwatosa's downtown area.
Police were first alerted something was wrong when Sebena didn't respond to a call for service shortly before 5:00 a.m. Officers found the dead Sebena with multiple gunshot wounds to her body. Wauwatosa Police Lt. Gerald Witkowski would not give a specific location as to where the officer's body was found, but it appears to have happened near the intersection of Underwood and Harmonee. Lt. Witkowski says it's standard for officers to work alone during the overnight shift. During his noon briefing Lt. Witkowski said this is a homicide, and the shooting is being investigated by the Department of Justice. Officer Sebena is a graduate of the MATC Police Academy, and started with the Wauwatosa Police Department in July 2012. If you have information relevant to the investigation of Sebena's death, please call Wauwatosa police at 414-771-8672. Monitor CBS58.com and CBS58 News for the latest on this story. |
