Match Day Tremendous for Hunger Task Force
Greater Milwaukee Foundation Matching Donations
MILWAUKEE-From firefighters to beauty queens, the greater Milwaukee community pitched in to make sure families who need help will get it.
It was Match Day, where the Greater Milwaukee Foundation agreed to match phone and online donations made to several local charities.
We here at CBS 58 helped man the phones at Hunger Task Force which provides food to dozens of local food programs. Half of its clients are children making its efforts all the more vital.
"The opportunity to have these donations matched to serve the community and have the community respond in this way is tremendous," said Hunger Task Force Associate Director Gray Zajc.
Greenfield Fire Department paramedics and Wauwatosa Firefighters are used to pulling monster shifts. Several members of their departments didn't disappoint on Thursday, manning the phones for hours on end.
Miss Wisconsin Kate Gorman brought some dazzle to the day and "Front Row Amy" a Brewers super fan says she had to volunteer her time.
"The work Hunger Task Force does is so important," Amy told CBS 58's Michele McCormack, "I donate at Brewers events, it just seemed like the right thing to do. I had to take part."
