Man involved in car crash faces homicide charges for baby's death
MILWAUKEE -- 23-year-old Donovan Walker-Hall faces homicide charges after he hit a pregnant woman during a car accident on May 6th. The woman hit in this accident was nine months pregnant at the time of the accident. Her unborn child did not survive the accident.
According to the criminal complaint, Walker-Hall was traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Dr. as he tried to beat a yellow light. Walker-Hall collided with another driver who was making a left turn from the south bound lanes.
The crash forced Walker-Hall's vehicle off the road, and into the path of 23-year-old Ashley Williams. She was walking with her boyfriend, Isaiah Chesnut, when Walker-Hall hit her. The two had just left a Walgreen's and were walking to the bus stop.
Williams was transported from the accident scene to Froedtert Hospital, where doctors performed an emergency C-section. Dr. Peterson at the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says the baby died from multiple blunt force injuries.
In the criminal complaint, police say data from Walker-Hall's vehicle shows he was traveling approximately 56 miles per hour.
Investigators found that Walker-Hall has no driver's license, and the current status with the state is suspended. He has three prior convictions for Operating Without a License, and 10 convictions for Operating After Suspension dating back to 2009.
