Elderly man rescued from house fire
RACINE COUNTY—Power lines that were damaged in a storm cause a house fire in the Town of Burlington.
Racine County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a home of a 73-year-old man who said that his bedroom was filling with smoke around 12:45 a.m. Saturday.
The man was not able to move on his own and would need assistance getting out of the home.
When deputies arrived they saw smoke in the back of the house. They made entry into the house and encountered dense smoke.
They made their way to the bedroom and found the 73-year-old man.Deputies were able to get him out of the home and to rescue personnel. The man was treated on the scene and later left in the care of a family member.
Fire Department personnel found an active fire in the back walk of the house and they were able to extinguish it.
Initial investigation showed that the fire was caused by power lines that were damaged earlier in the day during a storm.
