Man leads Waukesha Police on car chase

WAUKESHA -- A 19-year-old driver led the Waukesha Sheriff's Department on a chase for over two miles early Wednesday morning after a Deputy caught the vehicle driving the wrong way on STH 164 at Tower Place in the City of Pewaukee.

It was around 1:40 a.m. when the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle fled southbound on Pewaukee Road driving at speeds of 60 to 80 m.p.h.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He has been identified as a 19-year-old Milwaukee man. He drove through two red lights and proceeded south into the City of Waukesha.
 
The driver lost control of the vehicle on Pewaukee Road in the area of Buena Vista Avenue, striking a utility pole. The driver was transported by the City of Waukesha Fire Department to Waukesha Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
 
The pursuit lasted 2.7 miles. The City of Waukesha Police Department assisted with this incident and is completing the accident investigation.
 
The driver was booked into the Waukesha County Jail on one count of eluding.
