MILWAUKEE -- 28-year-old Marquis Chapman, the man behind a Shorewood standoff, is being charged for actions he allegedly took against a young woman instead of anything related to the long standoff he had with law enforcement.

On June 21st, law enforcement received calls about a domestic abuse incident at 2:45 p.m. A man called saying he witnessed a man abuse a young woman as she tried to leave him at a bus stop.

According to the criminal complaint Chapman told police the victim told him to leave the scene so he wouldn't get in trouble. One officer observed the girl had a slight redding on the left side of her face.

Chapman faces disorderly conduct and misdemeanor battery related to his alleged assault of a young woman at a bus stop.
