MILWAUKEE-- Milwaukee welcomed back the Malibu Open Waterski Championship this weekend.

The world's top water skiing athletes and junior athletes filled Veterans Park Lagoon in Milwaukee. They competed in events such as traditional slalom and long-distance jumping for an opportunity at $64,000 in prize money.

In traditional slalom, athletes maneuver around a six-buoy designed course, while long-distance jumping competitors reach speeds of 70 miles per hour before going off a 6-foot high ramp.

The event also featured free-style jumping, barefoot skiing, a "kids' zone," a bikini fashion show, and live music by the Screaming Cucumbers for spectators to enjoy on the first weekend of summer.
