MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating an officer-involved shooting near 52nd and Capitol Dr. Police say an officer accidentally shot a robbery suspect as he was being taken into custody.

Police responded to an armed robbery on the 4700 block of N. 48th St. around 12:00 p.m. Police say two men robbed a victim of their 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix at gunpoint.

A Milwaukee police officer spotted the stolen vehicle near 53rd and Melvina. Both men fled from the officer on foot, but police only caught one of the suspects. As this suspect was being taken into custody an officer accidentally discharged his weapon, hitting the robbery suspect in the thigh.

We're told the 27-year-old suspect is being treated at Froedtert Hospital.

The second robbery suspect is still at large as police work to identify him.
