MPD arrest felon with gun at local daycare
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police police arrest an armed suspect inside a local daycare after a chase on Wednesday.
MPD arrested 22-year-old Diondrea Holt and it turns out he has a lengthy criminal record.
Since 2006, Holt has six convictions including four felonies. One of those felonies was possession of a firearm by a felon and he was still on extended supervision for that crime.
Police said they noticed Holt loitering outside of a home on Locust street around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
After being approached by police, he allegedly stole a bike and took off.
MPD tracked Holt to a near by neighborhood where they said he pointed a gun at an officer.
The officer did not shoot at Holt because of the concern children could be in the area, especially during the late afternoon. The officer also said he had a small target area.
The chase continued back to the original neighborhood where officers said Holt ran into a daycare.
Police added he tried to ditch his gun in a crib in the basement, but he was arrested at the scene.
Police were able to locate the gun.
According to the owner of the daycare, three children and one other adult were at the house at the time.
No injuries were reported.
