MILWAUKEE - As the world watches the health crisis former South African President is dealing with, some local politicians who've had the pleasure of meeting him are reflecting on the experience.  Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett met Mandela in Washington when he was Congressman Tom Barrett. He said Mandela was a very nice and humble man. The Mayor said he talked with Mandela about how he was persevering after spending nearly 3 decades in a South African jail cell. Milwaukee Treasurer Spencer Coggs also met Mandela.  It was in 1997 in South Africa. Coggs was attending a presidential reception that Mandela was not expected to attend. Coggs says about midway through the event President Mandela showed up. He and Coggs had a brief one on one conversation where Mandela asked if Coggs was comfortable and enjoying the country.
