MILWAUKEE -- Check your refrigerator and counter tops -- national grocer Trader Joe's is recalling some of its fruit because it could be contaminated with Listeria.

Wawona Packaging, a California-based supplier, is at the center of the recall, and shipped possibly contaminated fruits to several food retailers and wholesalers, including Trader Joe's.

Fruits affected by the recall are white and yellow whole peaches, white and yellow nectarines, plums, and a plum-apricot hybrid known as plum-cots that were packed between June 1 and July 12 of this year.

Trader Joe's has removed those products from its shelves.

Fruit included in the recall should not be eaten and should be disposed of immediately.

The recall was initiated based on internal company testing, according to Wawona Packaging, and the company says it has not been notified of any illnesses related to the recall.
