MILWAUKEE-- On Wednesday law enforcement from the federal, state, and local level trained at the Milwaukee Police Academy.

The focus was uniformed preparation for crisis situations, including barricaded suspects, hostage suspects and suicide intervention.

Trained negotiators say crisis situations are high stress and the outcomes often depend on simple listening skills.

They say for many suspects that encounter, it is the first time anyone has listened.

The purpose is to unify training so in crisis situations where multiple jurisdictions respond, everybody executes the crisis the same way.
