MILWAUKEE -- Jurors in the John Spooner trial have ruled that he was sane when he shot and killed Darius Simmons, rebutting the defense's play for the insanity plea. Earlier this week, Spooner was found guilty of First Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of Darius Simmons earlier this week.

This verdict means any time served by Spooner will be in a correctional facility instead of a mental facility.

Just yesterday Spooner was ruled competent to face trial by a court doctor. He later took the stand against his attorney's advice. Several of his remarks shocked the court, including one where he admitted to wanting to shoot the brother of Darius Simmons. Spooner also said he "didn't feel that bad" when refering to the killing of Darius Simmons.
