Journalist and Marquette alum captured in Syria

MILWAUKEE—Journalist James Foley has been captured in Syria.

According to his family, Foley was captured in northwest Syria on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012.

The family is appealing for him to be releases unharmed.

Foley is an alum of Marquette University and the school said that it is sending its thoughts and prayers for Foley’s safe return.

Foley was taken prisoner by Libyan security forces in April 2011 while covering the rebellion against Moamar Ghadafi.

He was held for six weeks with three other journalists before being released.
