Tipton County, IA -- The woman accused of kidnapping her nephew has been separated from other inmates for her own safety. The Tipton County Sheriff says other women in the jail have seen the media coverage regarding 31-year-old Kristen Smith.

Smith was charged with kidnapping after a police chief in Iowa found Kayden Powell inside a tote bag at a gas station. Smith was arrested in Iowa hours before police found the infant.

Investigators found several e-mails on her cell phone allegedly stating she had given birth on February 5, 2014. The complaint also says police found a prosthetic pregnancy belly in Smith's vehicle. While searching Smith's Facebook page, investigators found postings by Smith claiming she was pregnant.
