TOWN OF EAGLE - Two horseback riders were injured Sunday afternoon when a lightning bolt struck nearby. The women were riding with a group and a guide in the State Forest when the violent thunderstorm storm suddenly rolled through. Officials rushed to the scene fearing the worst, but when they arrived the two injured women were able to walk out of the forest on their own. One suffered a possible concussion and the other suffered an ankle injury. Officials believe when the lightning struck nearby the women were thrown off when the horses bolted. The owner of the animals say they suffered some burns
