Wauwatosa -- The project was supposed to start Saturday night at 8:00 but the rain pushed that back. The Westbound ramp from I-94 to Highway 100 will be closed. This is all part of a project that will widen Highway 100 to four lanes in both directions.
There will be two lanes available during most of the construction, which lasts through the summer. The main reason the DOT is starting with Highway 100 is because it will be an important alternate route in the overall Zoo Interchange project.
As far as detours, there are a few options. You can take US-45 to Bluemound Road, Wisconsin Avenue, or Watertown Plank to get back on Highway 100 North.
There's also a traffic shift. The plans shift all traffic onto the southbound side until late this summer.
