Heal the Hood

MILWAUKEE, WI - A neighborhood that has seen it's share of violence in the past is working to make it safer.  On Sunday, many residents near 24th Place and Keefe Avenue attended the third annual Heal The Hood block party. The event featured entertainment food and refreshments. It was also an opportunity for neighbors to talk with each other about ways to make the streets safer. A push to improve this area began back in 2010 after a murder outside of a vacant home on the block. Neighbors banded together and had the home where the murder happened torn down. Now there's a community garden on that property for all to enjoy. Organizers hope their message of peace spreads throughout the city.
