Government shutdown hits local veterans

by Dustin Vrab

The shutdown is hitting local veterans directly.

Starting today, they will no longer be able to go to the Milwaukee regional office for the Department of Veterans Affairs in person.

It has been closed to the public.

Local veterans won't be able to process claims for benefits in person and any appeals will be suspended.

All medical facilities and clinics at the Zablocki Center will be open and fully operational.
