Government Shutdown impacts beer production
some local breweries can't get permits
MILWAUKEE-The Federal shutdown is hitting people where they least expect it; in their pint glass.
A small office in the treasury department has been shuttered, meaning no permits for certain breweries.
New breweries can't start up. New beers can't be sold.
"I mean it's crazy'," independent brewer Mike Brenner told CBS 58 News, " These people aren't thinking about what's happening to the little guy."
Interestingly, while the treasury department office is not approving any new labels or recipes right now, brewers say it's still collecting taxes.
CBS 58's Bill Walsh has more.
