Germantown woman's 49ers flag burned
GERMANTOWN -- Germantown police are investigating the burning of a 49ers flag. Police say someone took a homeowner's flag, and burned it in her own backyard.
"It was burned to a crisp," Kelly Siwa-Fleitz said.
Police tell us rivalries and sports are great but this takes it way too far. Germantown Police Lt. Tom Schreihart says, "My guess is this may have been a practical joke that went too far. Taking a rival flag and burning it is stepping over the line. Never should have been done."
Siwa-Fleitz flys the flag proudly. She's done so in Germantown for more than two years. She's never had problems there. She never had problems when they lived in New Jersey either.
"And all of a sudden, maybe because they got beat last year and the game is coming up somebody decided they didn't like it and take revenge."
The Packers play the 49ers Sunday afternoon. Two losses to the 49ers last year have Packers fan anxious for the game. But this goes a bit far.
"I'm thinking prank but it was a really bad prank because it was a really dangerous one."
Siwa-Fleitz ordered a new flag and plans to put it back where the other one was.
If police catch the person or people who did this, they could face a fine of more than $400.
