Franklin school to reopen after closing due to illness

FRANKLIN --- Pleasant View Elementary School in Franklin will reopen today after it had to shut down last week after dozens of children became ill.

At least 50 students and a couple of staff members were sent home Thursday with symptoms of vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and fevers.

The school district then decided to cancel school on Friday so custodial staff could clean the building.

Health officials say the illness does not appear to be related to food but they are continuing to investigate what may have caused the illness to spread so quickly.

While the school is reopened today parents are urged to keep sick kids home if they are still showing symptoms.
