MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- A former aide of Governor Scott Walker goes on trial, Monday for fraud.

Kevin Kavanaugh has pleaded not guilty to felony theft and fraud.

Prosecutors say when Kavanaugh worked for then-county executive Walker, he embezzled about $42,000 from veterans' groups.

This is part of a larger John Doe investigation involving a few more of Walker's former aides.

The governor has not been accused of or charged with a crime.
