Milwaukee firefighter falls through two floors while battling blaze

MILWAUKEE -- A firefighter falls two floors and is trapped while trying to battle a blaze.

The Milwaukee Fire Department was called out to a home near 29th and Grant around midnight Sunday.

There were initial reports that a family with children were trapped inside, but it turned out that they were not in home.

A firefighter was on the second floor when the floor collapsed sending him all the way to the basement.

He was entangled and unable to free himself.

His fellow firefighters were eventually able to get him out of a basement window.

Luckily he was not injured.

Firefighters had to attack the fire aggressively.

The basement, first and second floors all received substantial damage.

The house is most likely a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
