Fired Officer Gets His Job Back
MILWAUKEE---The fire and police commission voted 2-1 Monday to give a fired police officer his job back after he was caught on dash cam video punching a handcuffed female suspect.
Richard Schoen, a nine year veteran of the force, was fired by Police Chief Ed Flynn after pulling the woman's hair and striking her in the face after arresting her for a traffic violation in September of 2011. Schoen testified Monday that is was a mistake and that if the woman would ever be open to his apology, he would like to say he's sorry in person. Chief Ed Flynn also testified standing by his decision to terminate the officer. In the end the majority of commission members decided that a 60 day suspension would suffice and that Schoen should be allowed to return to the force. |
