UPDATE: Woman convicted of cutting baby out of woman gets life sentence
MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- The story grabbed national attention, a woman convicted of the unthinkable, cutting an unborn baby from a woman's womb. On Thursday, Annette Morales-Rodriguez was given a life sentence. The judge also ruled she will have no chance or parole.
A jury convicted the 34-year-old back in September of trying to get a baby by killing a pregnant woman. Court records say Morales-Rodriguez lured Maritza Ramirez-Cruz, 23, to her home, beat her and then cut the fetus from her womb. Both mother and baby died. Investigators say Morales-Rodriguez told police she did it because she was desparate to give her boyfriend a child. |
