TOWN OF FREDONIA-The Ozaukee County Sheriff's office is investigating a fatal crash that happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Lt. C.A. McCormick released the following statement:
"The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a full size van versus school bus accident occurring on Sth 57 @ Cth D in the Town of Fredonia.
Investigation thus far indicates that the school bus, owned by Riteway Bus Services, had just entered southbound Sth 57 from westbound Cth D when it was struck from behind by a 2003 Chevrolet van.
The school bus was occupied by several Northern Ozaukee School district students along with the driver. No injuries were reported on the bus.
The male driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. Names are being held pending notification of next of kin.
It is unknown if speed/impairment/weather conditions (fog) played any role in the crash.
The roadway was intermittently closed for approximately 2 hours. It has been reopened for normal traffic. Investigation into the matter continues. Further information will be released when it becomes available."
