Employee and suspect injured during armed robbery at Culver's

WASHINGTON COUNTY-- An armed robber injures an employee at the Culver's in Jackson and is then shot by police.

Authorities received a 911 call from an employee around 8:30 a.m. Sunday about the armed robbery.

There were two employees inside at the time. The restaurant was not open yet.

One of the employees was injured while grappling with the suspect.

Officials said employees had what looked like a stab wound.

That person was taken to St. Joseph's for non-life threatening injuries.

The employee who called 911 was not injured.

Officials said that when the suspect was confronted behind the building he brandished a firearm at the officers.

The officers fired and struck the man several times.

The suspect was was taken St. Joseph's Hospital and then transferred to Froedtert by flight for life.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating the armed robbery and West Bend Police are conducting a separate "officer involved shooting" investigation.

A Wisconsin State Patrol reconstruction team was also called in to assist.

Investigators were at the restaurant until 2:30 p.m.
