Elderly man injured in plane crash

EAST TROY---An elderly man was hurt when he crashed his plane in the town of East Troy.

It happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Walworth County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the crash that happened on a privately-maintained grass airstrip called Air Troy Estates.

First responders found a downed plane on the runway and a lone male occupant in the aircraft. The man had to be extricated from the plane.

The victim was identified as 79-year-old Ronald Scott of East Troy. He was taken to Waukesha Hospital with head injuries. His condition is unkown at this time.

Scott was flying an experimental plane he had designed and built himself. He was attempting to land his plane on the runway when he crashed.

The crash is being investigated by Walworth County Sheriff's Department as well as the FAA.
