OCONOMOWOC -- An eight-year-old boy drowned in the Oconomowoc River while playing at Riverside park in Oconomowoc Thursday.  Police say it happened around 2:30 p.m.

According to police the child was at the park with a larger group.  Witnesses tell CBS-58, that group was a Tae-Kwon-Do group that routinely comes to the park to swim.  A chaperone noticed he was missing, and found the boy in the river. He was pulled from the river by that chaperone.

Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate the boy at the scene, and was later transported to Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. The boy was pronounced dead about an hour after he was pulled from the river.

The boy's name has not yet been released.
