Pedestrian killed after being hit by car on freeway

MUSKEGO-- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on I-43 in New Berlin Saturday morning.

The accident happened on I-43 just south of Racine Ave around 5:30 a.m.

A 54-year-old woman from Waukesha was parked outside of the shoulder on the interstate after her vehicle became disabled.

The woman got out of her car and attempted to walk across the traffic lane when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

First aid was given to the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

I-43 southbound was closed while authorities investigated.
