MILWAUKEE -- Marques Franklin, 35, of Milwaukee was arrested early Friday morning after crashing into a vehicle while driving the wrong way on I-145. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department say Franklin tried to flee police after he crashed into oncoming traffic.
The sheriff's office got a call about a wrong-way driver going northbound in the southbound lanes of I-145 at 2:01 a.m. Before sheriff deputies caught Franklin, he crashed his green van into a Toyota Camry at the Park Place overpass.
Witnesses say Franklin walked across all lanes of traffic to flee the scene of the collision. Sheriff deputies saw Franklin and arrested him before he could espace.
All three passengers in the Toyota Camry sustained non-life threatening injuries, and were transported to an area hospital.
Franklin is charged with OWI Causing Injury/Great Bodily Harm, and received citations for Driving Wrong Way on Divided Highway and First Offense OWI. If convicted, Franklin faces up to 12 and a half years in prison.
