Downed trees and power lines cause outages overnight

by Michele McCormack

OCONOMOWOC---Crews were called to the scene of a tree on a house, only to find that tree was on fire, presumably because it brought power lines with it.

CBS 58 News Crews were kept at a distance by emergency responders and in the dark it was hard to make out exactly what happened.

Power outages reached 16,000 Tuesday night. Damage reports came from West Allis, Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, Delafield, Hartland, Merton and Waukesha.

Peak winds from severe thunderstorms that moved through between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.  were clocked up to 65 miles per hour.

First Alert Weather says the worst had passed by 10 p.m.

There is no threat for severe weather for the remainder of the night.
