Monday afternoon the family of Dontre Hamilton met with Milwaukee Police to discuss his death in a private meeting.

The 31 year-old was shot dead in Red Arrow Park during a struggle for an officer's baton back in April. The district attorney has not announced whether or not the shooting was justified. The family asked Police Chief Flynn to attend, but he did not go.  The Hamilton family said they want Chief Flynn to retract any negative statements he has made about Dontre.

"I want our community to know Dontre was a good person and it's very unfortunate that he is gone because of one individual," said Dontre's mother, Maria Hamilton.

The Hamilton family also want to know who the officer who killed Dontre is.
