Derek Williams Death Inquest Could Take Months to Beginspecial prosecutor granted time to review evidence
MILWAUKEE-It could be months before the actual inquest gets underway into the death of Derek Williams.
He's the 22 year old robbery suspect who died in police custody after officers waited to get medical help when he started to complain about problems breathing. Special Prosecutor, Former Judge John Franke, says there may need to be medical experts scheduled who can speak to the cause of death. He said in court Tuesday that he needed at least three weeks before scheduling a start date for the inquest. Members of the Derek Williams family were in court today. His aunt, Maeleen Jordan, tells CBS 58 News that "If it takes another year, year and half, to resolve this I'm not in a hurry. The family's not either. We just want justice." |
