20-year-old killed in Kenosha County train accident
KENOSHA COUNTY -- Kenosha County sheriff's deputies are investigating a deadly train accident involving a Jeep. The man killed in this accident is 20-year-old Erik S. Johnson of Kenosha.
It happened just after 9:00 p.m. Thursday night near County Hwy. A and 7th Street in Somers. Johnson was traveling eastbound on Hwy. A, and lost control when he tried to break prior to the train tracks. Johnson slid across westbound traffic and ended up in the north ditch lane. His vehicle continued eastbound in the north ditch lane until the train tracks. The train crew says they saw Johnson traveling eastbound, and lost track of his vehicle right before the collision. Investigators say speed was a factor in this fatal accident. No one riding on the Amtrak train was injured. Family members are being notified. |
