David Cole charged in 78th and Calumet shooting death
MILWAUKEE -- 25-year-old David Cole is charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide and Possess of a Firearm by a Felon for his alleged role in the August 7th shooting death of Charles Atlas.
According to the criminal complaint, Chancy Atlas, the cousin of Charles Atlas, gathered friends to confront people who were arguing with the mother of his children. Atlas confronted a man, and knocked him out.
Following the fight, a group of people assembled at the home of Chancy's ex-girlfriend. She called Chancy back to the scene. This time Cole accompanied Chancy and Charles to the 7600 block of 78th St. Once the group arrived another group of people opened fire on their vehicle. Cole was the only one with a weapon and returned fire.
Police believe shots fired from Cole's gun resulted in the death of Charles Atlas.
If convicted on both criminal charges, Cole faces up to 70 years in prison.
