Mass Shooting: Customer describes scene inside salon
Jackson --- Betty Brunner is grateful she is alive. The Jackson resident was getting her hair done at the Azana Salon and Spa in Brookfield Sunday when her hairdresser's estranged husband opened fire.
Brunner described how the scene unfolded inside the salon, and called her hairdresser a hero. Three women were killed, and four women were injured when 45 year old Radcliffe Haughton went on the shooting rampage. Brunner said Zina Haughton went to get her coffee when the gunman entered the salon and pointed it at the reception desk. She said Haughton immediately jumped in front of the receptionist area to protect the two or three women there, and tried to talk with the gunman to de-escalate the situation. He did not give her a chance though. Instead, Brunner said, he took Haughton around a corner inside the salon, and opened fire. Brunner described how she held her breath and played dead as the gunman turned toward her again. He continued upstairs, and shortly after, the swat team showed up to rescue the women inside. Radcliffe Haughton was found dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound inside the salon nearly six hours after the first call for help. |
