Council Presidents Calls For "Citizen Action"
MILWAUKEE --- Police issued a statement Thursday urging citizens to cooperate with them to solve a series of shootings.
Early Thursday two men were wounded near N. 41st and W. Center St. On Monday, one man was killed and two women wounded in the 2200 block of N. 47th St. "I urge anyone with information about these shootings to contact the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360," Common Council President Willie Hines said in a written statement. "However, I will not stand pat in the face of this deadly violence," the statement said, "I will continue to take an active role in doing all that I can to prevent and/or lessen the chances of incidents like these recent shootings from occurring. My efforts will continue as a targeted approach working with the Milwaukee Police Department, the Community Prosecution Unit, the Neighborhood Task Force, the Department of Neighborhood Services, and local churches and community based organizations to help bring people and resources to bear on the problem." |
