Coping with severe weather at Summerfest

by Michele McCormack

MILWAUKEE---Being at the lakefront and in an open area makes you a moving target.

CBS 58 First Alert Meteorologist Michael Schlessinger says there are some basic things we can do to play it safe if the weather takes a nasty turn.

Obviously, head indoors into a secure building. Undo your umbrella since lighting strikes tallest objects.

Crouch down and put your head between your knees if you start to feel a tingling sensation. This is a signal lightning might be ready to strike.

A car is a long shot but it's your best option. It's a metal shell, the electricity will go right to the ground.
