RACINE---In the wake of the deaths of three children in a house fire last week, a proposal to close a fire station in Racine is generating renewed controversy.

The Mayor of Racine is asking all of his departments to cut their budgets.

The fire department need to cut $420,000 from next year's budget.

To do that the fire chief says he'll have to lay off three full time employees and close station 5.

Since that proposal a couple of weeks ago, a lot of people are coming forward in opposition.
