No charges filed against bar owner who shot and killed robber
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office announces they will not seek criminal charges against bar owner Andy Kochanski. Kochanski is the owner of Concertina Bar, a popular Milwaukee south side tavern.
Kochanski responded with deadly force when he was confronted by three robbers around midnight. Police say the 23-year-old robber died at the scene, and the other two robbery suspects fled.
Kochanski told CBS 58, "Well yeah I did the shooting. Two guys with guns, what are you going to do? You're going to protect yourself and your customers and that's what I did."
Chief Deputy District Attorney Kent Lovern says, "Mr. Kochanski's actions were lawfully permissible in defense of himself and others."
This isn't the first time Kochanski fired shots at robbers. He fired shots when multiple men tried to rob his Christmas party in 2008.
The District Attorney's Office is still reviewing charges against others involved in this incident.
