MOUNT PLEASANT --- A man has been charged after he allegedly strangled and killed his wife, then set fire to the house on Christmas Eve.

Joseph Guerrero, 37, was staying with his wife Bianca Vite, 22, in a home they used to rent from his sister. They had not been living in the home for several months but were squatting in the residence.

On the night of Dec. 22nd, 2012 the couple got into a fight. Vite allegedly scratched Guerrero in the face. Guerrero then grabbed Vite by the neck and threw her against the wall.

Guerrero made several incriminating comments to friends and family in the following days including telling his parents that he'd, "screwed up."

On Christmas Eve Guerrero used gasoline to set fire to the living room where he had left Vite then fled the scene. When police and fire crews arrived the living room was fully engulfed in flames and Vite's body was found inside.

Guerrero will be in court later this month.
